The Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Institute, an outpatient clinic adjacent to South Texas Health System Children's, is focused on diagnosing and managing hormonal disorders in children. Staff are focused on treating a variety of disorders including:
- Growth problems such as short stature
- Early or delayed puberty
- Enlarged thyroid gland (goiter)
- Underactive or overactive thyroid gland
- Pituitary gland hypo/hyper function
- Adrenal gland hypo/hyper function
- Ambiguous genitals/intersex ovarian and testicular dysfunction
- Obesity problems with Vitamin D, including rickets and hypocalcemia
- Diabetes, low blood sugar and hypoglycemia
