The hospital treats children from birth to 19 years of age and features a kid-friendly, comfortable atmosphere, with boldly colored murals from renowned artist Roark Gourleywith. There are large pediatric playrooms where kids can have fun and a special teen room with a large-screen TV, movies, electronic video games, board games and more.

During the pandemic, STHS Children’s launched a virtual playroom for its pediatric patients, which allows them to participate in arts & crafts events, as well as take part in virtual tours and presentations. In February 2023, the facility opened its Children’s Healing Garden, an outdoor space for patients and their families to relax during their hospital stay. Additionally, the facility features a Child Life Department to help families deal with the stress and anxiety they may feel while in hospital, as well as an onsite Ronald McDonald Family Room for parents with hospitalized children to relax, shower and do laundry during their child’s stay.

The hospital also has its own mascot, Eddie, who helps brighten kids' days when they are in the hospital.
