Baby Jose Manu Lopez was the very first patient to be treated by Dr. Maria Camacho at the Pediatric Comprehensive Care Clinic. Manu was born prematurely at 33 weeks at South Texas Health System McAllen and spent a little over a week in the NICU. Manu saw Dr. Camacho for his first pediatrician visit and is doing well. 

The Pediatric Comprehensive Care Clinic of South Texas Health System Children's provides primary care to children with higher risk, chronic illnesses. It is designed to safely transition children from acute care to primary care. The clinic is led by Dr. Maria Camacho and a team of nurse practitioners. Dr. Camacho works closely with other primary care providers to ensure a continuum of care.

  • Children with multi-system problems

About Dr. Camacho

Dr. Maria Camacho is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric critical care. She has been providing exceptional care to patients in the Rio Grande Valley for more than 20 years and now serves as the medical director for the Pediatric Comprehensive Care Clinic.
